Recipe: Kerala Fish Cutlet






Ingredients

  • Any fish - 500 gram
  • Boiled potato x 4 medium and to be mashed
  • Crushed ginger 1 tbs
  • Crushed garlic 1 tbs
  • Green chili x 1
  • Chopped onion x 1 medium
  • Curry leaves
  • Garam masala half tsp
  • Black pepper powder half tsp
  • Red chili powder half tsp
  • Lime 
  • Egg white x 1
  • Bread crumb x 1

  1. Marinate the fish for 5 minutes with lime and salt and little red chili powder. You can either fry it with mustard oil or steam it. After cool, remove the bones and mince the fish,
  2. Heat oil and saute onion until brown. Add crushed ginger and garlic.
  3. Add curry leaves and green chili.
  4. Add in fish.
  5. Add half tsp garam masala, half tsp black pepper powder, little red chili powder.
  6. Put in mashed potato.
  7. When the fish mix is cool, make small balls.
  8. Dip in egg white and roll with bread crumbs.
  9. Pan fry on small fire in mustard oil.
  10. Serve with lime/lemon wedges and onion slices. Or green chutney. And of course, whisky is best :)
